St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church South Africa

The St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church South Africa is a Parish affiliated to and constituted by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, also known as the Indian Orthodox Church, founded in India by the Holy Apostle St.Thomas, one of the Twelve Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, and ruled at this time by His Holiness Moran Mar Baselius Marthoma Mathews III, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, Successor to the Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas. The headquarters of the Church is situated at Devalokam Aramana. The Parish is now under the direct ecclesiastical jurisdiction of His Emminence Abraham Mar Stephanos, Metropolitan of the Diocese of UK-Europe and Africa, with the Diocesan Headquarters at Swindon, UK.

The St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church South Africa, registered as a Non-Profitable Organisation in South Africa (Reg No. 010-226) has over 120 member families scattered across South Africa with Units at Johannesburg, Pretoria, Groblersdal, Mokopane/Polokwane, Tzaneen/Phalaborwa/Burgersfort, Nelspruit/Whiteriver, Durban/Port Shepstone, East London, King Williams Town, Cape Town and Zeerust/Mahikeng. The Church situated at 13A Jupiter Avenue, Crowthorne, Midrand, Gauteng is the first Consecrated Church of the Indian Orthodox Church in the African Continent. 

Fr. Jobin Mammen Cherian has been serving the Parish as Vicar since June 2024.
