The St. Thomas Orthodox Congregation of Southern Africa is a Parish affiliated to and constituted by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, also known as the Indian Orthodox Church. It is currently under the direct ecclesiastical jurisdiction of His Grace Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios, Metropolitan of the Diocese of UK-Europe and Africa, subject to the authority of the Holy Episcopal Synod of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

The Parish grew from humble origins during the 1990s. Over the years, there has been moments of growth as well as decline owing to several factors. The Parish has been registered as a Non-Profitable Organisation in South Africa (Reg No. 010-226) since 2010. Today, the Parish has over 150 member families scattered across the Southern Africa region with Units at Pretoria, Johannesburg, Mokopane / Polokwane, Groblersdal, Tzaneen / Phalaborwa / Burgersfort, Nelspruit / Whiteriver, Durban / Pietermaritzberg / Port Shepstone, East London, King Williams Town / Mthatha / Queenstown, Cape Town, Zeerust /Mbatho, Gabarone – Botswana and Lesotho
